Au revoir -- I'll be careful, I promise

Things are not calm and pleasant in the City of Lights just now. Many of you probably think I'm daft to go, so let me put your mind at rest and tell you that I'm looking forward to the possibilities of being in a great city of the world when it is energized by conflict. The violence will die down soon enough, and I think I will be successful at avoiding most of it (it is rather random, after all), particularly since they seem intent on burning things and I don't have a car (see, I'm not TOTALLY crazy).

I won't seek out danger (just a bit too old, and several steps too slow, for that), but I will seek out authentic experiences, and I'm sure Paris will be full of a few more of those than usual.

If all goes well, I'll have my laptop working at Chez Berges by Tuesday morning in the US. I'll check back in then.
